Game from your childhood
« on: October 18, 2015, 07:52:10 pm »
Greetings Evilzone members. I wanted to see what games made your childhood really awesome. What games are still in your heart and are able to invoke nostalgia. For me it goes:

1. Heroes of Might and Magic III
2. Jazz and Jackrabbit 2
3. Dungeon Siege 1
Vae Victis - suffering to the conquered

As a gamer from the time i can remember..this is a lot harder to answer than you might think. I've seen so many amazing things that deserve recognition across so many platforms that just ...yeah. I MIGHT make it with a top 10. lets see.

so greatest impact on me least to greatest.
#10 - Pac Man(Atari 800) - Do i even have to bother with why this game is so awesome? because it STILL is. That alone makes it worthy of praise.
#9 - Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic(PC/Xbox) - I've never really felt "evil" in any game ive ever played, not to say i havent run around murdering villagers by the dozen, but never FELT evil. This game...at the end i felt EVIL.**spoiler** When i made the wookie kill his buddy...omfg i laughed like a maniac...in PUBLIC. People looking at me like what the fuck is wrong with this guy and im just cackling like  the story book villain of your choice. God was it great.
#8 - Baulders Gate - The "first" GUI based D&D game. great graphics for its time, amazing story and such a wide variety of interesting people to meet, and then kill.
#7 - Metroid(NES)/Metroid 2(game boy) - Coolest platformer of its time imo. It did SO much that others just didnt. Was a BLAST to play.
#6 - Doom 2(PC) - My first FPS, PERIOD. GOD WAS THIS AWESOME. Wide variety of weapons? check. Lots of stuff to kill? check. HUGE mod community? I mean this was one of the games that STARTED true game modding. (or at least made it "main stream")
#5 - Team Fortress Classic(PC) - My first online FPS, was in the pro circuit so id say i know this game better than most, and its mechanics allowed for a LOT of really fun stuff that obviously wasnt intended, but actually made the game BETTER.
#3/4 - Diablo II/Counter Strike(PC) - I tie these two partially because they are so different and partially because between the two im not sure which i have more hours in, its safe to assume i have 10k hours+ in both. Both defined their genre for a long time, or in many cases sense. They are without a doubt two of the most profoundly game changing games to come out in the past 20 years.
#2 - Final Fantasy 7(PC/PS1) - this game is great, HUGE world(especially for its time), industry leading graphics cut scenes and an amazing story. I've rererereplayed this game so many times ive lost count.
#1 - HAS to go to FF6(SNES) - It's what started me loving RPG's to start with and holds a special place JUST for that, but at the same time its story was great and was funny as hell to boot. It is also one of the best set up and most customizable RPG's of all time(as far as how you wanted to "build" your party), still to this day.

So yeah ask me tomorrow that list would change to some degree. So many "honorable mentions", so many that were the first of their kind to do X. I mean like i have CS and TFC both built off the Half Life Engine...but not it. And it is AMAZING. Hell the "AI" was SUPER advanced for its time. Awesome story etc. Just yeah...so many that deserve a spot, not enough space or time to get to them all. Hell i dont evne have a RTS on this list, and Star Craft and Age of Empires both deserve a mention...Shit i might should have done this by game genre. Ah well.

1. Counter Strike 1.6
2. Cabal Online
I tried many MMO's later, but I had the most fun playing those two games in my childhood and probably spent the most time doing so.

1. GTA San Andreas
2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
3. Call of Duty: Black Ops (I)
4. Civilizations V: Brave New World (By far my favorite strategy game)

These games are pretty recent, since I started gaming recently (when I was around 12)

- Heroes Series (3, 4, 5)
- Fallout Series (2,3)
- Age of Empire Series (2,3,4)
- Civilization Series (3,4)
- Advance wars 2 & some really cool rpg / strategy games from Nintendo (GBA)
- Army men series (console & pc)
- Tzar
- Warcraft 3
- Nox

Action:
