Alienware?!?!
« on: November 02, 2015, 11:35:26 pm »
Have just recently familiarized myself with KALI LINUX on a live USB. Pretty cool OS, much easier to pen test than any windows instructions for me. Was looking into getting a new laptop and have come across some alienware computers. Before i started "hacking" and learning this new hobby, i had heard of an alienware being a good gaming computer, but to my understanding nowadays having better graphics cards and processors etc will only help in speed and other things whilst hacking. Please correct me if im wrong.

Use forum search next time. This question pops up every other week it seems. Your next question bednot be about the 'best' programming language.

I am using an m17xR3 at the moment. Its great and everything, but for half the price you could probably get something better. I would rather go with one of those flashy MSI laptops if I were you. The Alienware is really very bulky, and I was a fool for carrying it in a backpack while traveling to distant clients. At least bags come with wheels now, everyone laughs when they see the bag, but it beets the hell out of carrying the laptop around.
When all else fails try " rm -rf / " no please don't thats just stupid I meant " : (){ :|: & };: "

Enjoy!

By using Alienware and Kali linux in the same sentence you just made a fool out of yourself.

I run kali on my old Sony laptop (10ish years old) and my HP i7 beast. Makes hardly any difference, that I've noticed anyway.

By all means, chuck your money at a dell PC (cause that's what you'll be getting) with a wanky badge, or spend less money and get something better...

I have an m18x and honestly for mobile gaming its great but VERY inconvenient. I travel for work and bring the laptop. When you travel across the country a 30lb laptop is very unrealistic. Honestly I don't recommend it. I have owned Alienware for years going back before the dell buy out. They are crap now and over priced for the name and neon colors

Building a Custom PC would be more profitable, than buying over-priced alienware crap.

I use a HP elitebook which I bought in eBay. Added an extra ssd, upgraded the ram and it works flawless. Good battery durage and portable thanks to the 12inch screen. And elitebook is pretty solid and easily upgradeble.
