Book Requested!

Hi evilzone!

For a long time i´ve been learning how to code. Now, i want to move to the next level. I´m looking to know more about networks and internet.

There is a lot of books in the internet and some of them are in evilzone wiki. The problem is that i can´t choose the best book to learn from just by the title, and i don´t want to waste a long long time reading some crap!

So, i remembered i can always ask help to the experts who have further more experience than i do


U know those things about ports, hosts ,networks... http ... well, i don´t know a shit of what im talking about, im a complete noob!!! i would like a book to teach me all those things, but with a simple  language. I´ve started one or two books before but they ended up using some concepts i´ve never heard about resulting in the loss of my complete interest for it!

So, basically i need a book to teach me at least the basics of the basics !!


Is any book like that that you can recommend me?

If i said something stupid, correct me! Help and advises are always needed!

I don't think you will find all your answers in 1book. Read about TCP/IP , the osi reference , .....

Sorry to break it to you, but you have to learn how to read and learn then.
You don't just read everything. Read through the lines.
I went through a tech book in about 3 hours and learnt everything that I needed.
You'll miss some important details occasionally, but nothing that CTRL + F in the book or google can't fix.

Just pick any book, read through the lines and practice stuff you've learned as soon as you've learned them.
Hands-on experience is much better than reading any book.

Use books as a guide and google as your bff, rather than literature.

I don't think there would be just one book to spoon fed you the whole 'How-to'.

Try using your number one resources Google  and YouTube there is also a post somewhere around in the forums about how you can make the best of your Google search your bound to find a lot of information!

never asked for that, i was just talking about basic concepts. But i understand what you mean,  there is no chosen one book

can't tell if this is the best book out there but except Google searches, videos (see cybrary.it) or pdf (or even articles) I'm pretty satisfied with the CompTIA Network+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Meyers 5th edition. But again if you are a complete noob you might have to make a little search on your own about some terms.

i´ve done a lot of search and i already got a bunch of websites with a lot of great e-books,

the problem is that im always thinking :"oh, what about if this isnt the correct book, will i spend 20 days reading something complete useless?"

no, stop thinking like that just start learning. I think there is no way to learn something useless from a book, maybe it's not what you want to learn but never useless.

This is going to sound a bit weird, but maybe you could pick up Todd Lammel's CCNA Routing and Switching guide. It's a book for CCENT/CCNA exams, but I read it just to get a general understanding of networking concepts rather than for the purpose of obtaining a CCENT/CCNA. You'll learn a ton of shit with this book in easily digestible chunks for a noob. I was in your spot not long ago and the TCP/IP Illustrated book was pretty intimidating and bland, but the CCENT/CCNA book is great for a beginner to learn. Supplemental software like packet tracer or GNS3 make the learning more hands on and fun w/ exercises in the book that help to physically visualize how packets are traveling through a network rather than straight reading a thousand pages that will make you want to blow your brains out.
