Need help with putty from windows 7 to debian server

Hi, brothers, any one can help me. i bought a VPS with root access in France, am using windows 7 when i connect to VPS throught putty it tell me to enter user, then i enter root, after that it asked me to enter password but then whatever i type from keyboard does not go through as if the the screen freezes.

any short tutorial to connect to VPS from windows 7 to debian server would be appreciate. I just want to browse on the server .  thanks in advance

Putty,  along with other unix/linux like terminals don't echo your password. Just type it in and hit enter, you wont see it in your terminal.

There might be some config options to enable echoing but idk, look through the docs if it's really that important.

thanks very much..i have been able to solve previous error, but now confronted with new one.. when i enter password it tell me "access denied" please still any help would be apreciated HERO... am using putty version 0.62...So please why access denied even as i entered correct password... i have attached a screen short

yes, i bought from free-h.org, and from their web site it state that i  have full access to root..ok let me visit your link and get back to you regards

What's the root password? Might be a problem with special characters

You may also a separate passwords from the housing provider and ssh. They may have generated a new password different from your host

Customer care just replied and told me the checked the server and that all works well, but that the still do not understand why i have "access denied when i enter password" when tryin to connect to the debian server using putty from window? Below the log screen

Thanks Gun that worked, Big thanks very much..... Now please one more question, how do i proceed to  virtualize my VPS for normal browsing ? I want to be able to browse on my VPS lets say on Firefox etc...Please i would appreciate little guide because it my first time connecting on VPS.  i have attached screen shot.. 1 way - install VNC server
2 way - allow X11 forwarding for ssh
or you can configure VPS as proxy
