FireTV Stick + XBMC / Kodi
« on: December 30, 2015, 03:35:20 pm »
Does anyone own a Amazon FireTV Stick and installed XBMC on it? I've read about it and it looks really easy to install as XBMC / Kodi lets you download an ARM build. How is the speed maybe compared to a raspberry v2? Does anyone use it more often?

It sounds like a really nice way to watch / stream movies on a tv.

If I have movies as a file, how do I put them on it? Do I need to have like a NAS to get it over the LAN or can I add a external HD to it?

i think the Fire tv you can add more space and files  but the stick is mainly streaming . Once you install kodi you pretty much just add programs to that like fusion tv  and stream anything you want .

Here maybe this will help you

There are always the 1channel, navi-x, etc addons if you are interested in streaming. For sports I believe there is a firstrow plugin as well.

I have bought now one. KODI is easy to install (used adbFire). Kinda nice with auto startup function. Handling is as we now it. Runs pretty fast and solid. For best use you need a bluetooth keyboard. And I kinda miss the Volume keys on the controller. But cheap, fast and solid. I'd say the best would be to use it with netflix.
