Dumb-dumb needs help
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:08:29 am »
I admit that am the dumb-dumb, so you can skip bashing me...

A former employee hijacked our hotmail account and used it to forward to herself bunch of confidential company files (f.e. high resolution file with printable company checks and all our accounting info).  Yes, we had to close the bank account after that but we still have the problem with the email itself and the accounting files.
We tried everything in windows live - changing security , more and more elaborate passwords, and yet she continues taunting us, I can SEE her in windows live mns ("signed in two places").  what the heck?

yes, we should have used something better than hotmail, but hindsight is 20/20 and all our customers and suppliers know and use THAT email.

I firstly would like her to stop being able to hack into company email.
Secondly, I would like to know if there is any way we can take back these files she stole and sent to herself (to her gmail and hotmail accounts).

Anybody who doesn't mind earning his living by fixing other people's problems?

As you said that some of the mail is forwarded to her account,

first of all if your company have their mail server and if she is formar employee then how is she getting access in to your company network.

first check your network security, then think about mail server.

so did you check your mail server configuration files?

If you know her e-mail then you can try to block her her e-mail by configuring mail server properly.

And if she had already copied your private data on her local computer/laptop then the hell you can't do anything about it. otherwise if you know her account then there are some way you can try but not 100% efficient.

Contact the authorities? Beyond that, Kulverstukas is right, there isn't really anything you can do.
