Hereby introducing a new Android-based Operating system named "Maru OS" that combine the mobility of a smartphone as well as the power of a desktop on a single device.

Maru OS allows you to turn your smartphone into a desktop when plugging it with an HDMI cable.

Maru custom ROM includes two operating systems:

Android 5.1 Lollipop for mobile phones
    Debian-Linux for desktop monitor

Connect your phone to any HDMI screen.

Maru automatically detects when an external display is available and spins up your desktop. It boots in less than 5 seconds.

Pair up a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Any Android-compatible bluetooth peripherals will work with Maru.

Enjoy desktop productivity.

Gotta run? Disconnect from your screen and Maru will preserve your desktop state in the background so you can pick up right where you left off.

*Note, as interesting as it sounds, the beta is only avaliable for Nexus 5 :c at the moment.
it IS open source though so the adventurous can try adapting and hammering it to run in other phones if you so wish.

I see no real purpose in this when you have all kinds of synchronization tools... the battery life would be pathetic IMO, and it's horrible as it is with smartphones. Also who the flip would use a phone for computer work?
