Lip reading? Just spend few hours and keep an eye on people when they are talking, whispering, shouting... If you're good at watching something, you will get it very fast. Or watch movies you know without the audio stream? :D I managed lip reading like that... By now I'm able to read lips in English and more languages (atm trying to do it with people talking french... not so easy :/ ).

I think learning the intricacies of just about anything can be considered hacking. Lockpicking in my eyes is most definitely hacking in its true definition. Hacking to me is very much a mindset not just exploiting something on a computer.
