Learning linux

Hey guyz, i'm a windows user and 4rm wat i've heard; Windows sucks. So i bought 2 books 4rm a cheap book store on Linux. The problem is the books were publishd in 1997 & 2002. Can i still read them {or should I throw them away}?

AFAIK Linux core hasn't changed much since 2000's, so the books should be fine.

i read it for 'bout 2 hours a day during the weekend(i startd this weekend) and am already in Control Statements. Hw's dat?

I know this will sound cheesy but to me you will never completely learn something.

However with plenty of hard work, you could get comfortable around a few months. Reading helps, but you need to be hands on. If you aren't doing something regularly, it is easy to forget.

I think so too. Just looking for a place to sit and enjoy myself, and talk to people who share the same interests. As for my replies, I try to do my best. Give the advice that I, myself follow.

I've learned the basics of linux by using Cygwin for a while.
It's in Windows. almost the same.
