[applaud] [smite]
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:19:46 am »
I realize that there actually IS such thing as a stupid question so I'm hoping this isn't one of those, but how come suddenly every single person posting on here has [applaud] [smite] on their forum profile?

Just above those two links you will see a persons Karma. Applaud increases the users Karma by 1 point. Smite decreases the users Karma by 1 point.

It's generally useless, but if used correctly it can be used to judge whether or not a users responses have been helpful to another user.

Ah thank you I've never noticed that before.

That's because it only shows when you have over 10 posts.

Thanks, but no thanks. The karma system we got is here to stay. One should be able to give positive and negative karma.

Speaking of karma, how does the ranking system work? i see people labeled as "nop, int, char, short, long" and a couple of others, but what do they mean and how do you earn them?

Those ranks are based on number of posts. Except VIP, Mod, and Admin, those are manually set. Karma is just that number in your profile, no rank depends on it.

I didn't realize karma was directly related to my intelligence. Amazing

not really its more the general view of people that have of you, short off, if you make retarted or hate posts that get people angry they will smite you,
but when you make good remarkable posts with good info / explantation or you made some nice stuff you will be applaud
