Spoofing Email address?
« on: February 17, 2012, 04:47:46 am »
Hey guys, is there such a method to spoof your email? Let's say I want to send an email to someone, instead of my real email showing, it would show admin@admin.com. Is this possible? Maybe with some kind of SMTP program written in VB/python?

Very possible. Many websites, and programs do that. However, when you spoof an email you won't get an email back. Being that its fake, and the return message to you won't work.

I don't get what you mean, but I'm pretty sure their telnet port is closed. lol.

You didn't search, did you?

This link is for sending mails
This link is for creating a light SMTP server

I tested it and it works.

Theres a way me and a friend used to do it without loading any apps, but they shouldnt have to have telnet. Just you....

On the other hand, an app would make this so much easier, looking forward to the link dump :)

I actually did, I searched through that portableapps website you linked me too, I found some thunderbird stuff.
And Thanks for those two links!

Useful link man :P .

EDIT:
I've tried using QM, whenever I put in the credentials for the server info (live.smtp.com) and the port 587, I get some kind of error that's like "530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first" I don't get it?

Not that I condone anything illegal, but just think of the money you could make sending an email to a gullible user as paypal or the like,,,,
Oh, and you can mess with your less tech savy friends by sending them an email as God... ;)

Well, I've been trying to do this via telnet but it seems most websites have their port 25 (smtp) closed... or is it possible it's set to a different port? Could a port scan possible fix this? The website I'm trying to
spoof as has their port 25 closed.

Spoofing port is nonesense.

Most servers will not have open SMTP's, but if you scan enough you will most likely find one. Tho range scanning and port scanning is illigal in a lot of contries. People can run SMTP on other ports than 25, but thats unlikely.

I think there are websites that would let you send anonymous emails to anyone you like

^^ See the E-mail section over there  ;)

By the way, you can customize the "Reply To" address, so that when the victim replies to your mail, it will to your inbox rather than the "From" address.

Although this would be the easy way out, I'd like to do it myself, learn the process and perform it.

Handy website, it actually worked, but do you have any knowledge of how this works? If you do, please share. Thanks guys.
