Pidgin with the OTR plugin. Proxy the application through TOR, and use someone else's wireless AP at the same time. I'm sure that's fairly anonymous.

I've used this before, it worked out very nicely. I also use SSL when on IRC. Everything else, I really don't care about.

Ok ok if we are all being polite here then I guess I must explain myself. Sorry for being rude. Sometimes I am a bit harsh here at EZ. I suppose that was a low quality post on my part. It just seemed as though you were building up this tutorial that you thought everyone should ask you to produce. Then after all that you post a youtube video...which could have been some video you just found. I just found it a bit odd. Just post shit...don't worry about if people request you to do it. Just do it. We encourage sharing here.  ;D

IRC also altho I'm trying to make/use something other than ssl...

SSL has seemingly has weakpoints....whether the weakpoint can be applied to IRC I don't know?.....ssl uses same encryption protocol repetitivelyso that if found makes every transparent. Check this out, this is project of Moxie Marlinspike:
