-4 in the people world. And ¦-5¦ in the realm of or imaginations. Numbers are brought on by man to understand the outside world. They can be anything we want, all arbitrary.

(-2^2)=4 or -4?

it is definitely -4
Reason , since the power is not outside the bracket the negative sign is not squared therefore the answer is -4.
if it was like this, (-2)^2 then the answer would have 4

I don't get it too. The answer is not difficult and not a matter of opinion unless you take it like techb.

Another definition, since A^2 = A*A then (-2^2) is like (-2*-2) = 4 .

-2^2 is 4. With or without brackets. Negation has preference over exponential. If it was -(2^2) it would be -4. That's all, and I am kinda surprised.

Your order of precedence is not the one used in mathematics. Some programming languages and programs may have an unary minus that has a higher precedence than exponentiation, but that is not something a mathematician would do.

Quote
The order of operations, or precedence, used throughout mathematics, science, technology and many computer programming languages is expressed here:[2]
terms inside parentheses or brackets
exponents and roots
multiplication and division
addition and subtraction

Quote
In written or printed mathematics, the expression −32 is interpreted to mean −(32) = −9

@gh0st: Now I understand that there is indeed a misconception about this.
