security for win XP?

hey I got my cp going and i dont have a antivirus or anything and was wondering what the best free antivirus programs and other security products of the like are.

Refer to this thread. I used to use Avast but now I only have Malewarebytes....and it really hasn't been of much use. Common sense is your best defense, if you know what you are doing you don't need an AV

ok cool i need it because i do alot of gaming and i realy dont like downloading with out something to scan with

Malwarebytes for sure, I also use Avira sometimes. Like Lucid said though, it comes down to just having common sense. I never have any problems on my computer, and I rarely ever use my AV software. Keep your wits about you, don't be too trusting, and you will make it out alive.
