More than tracing an IP
« on: July 31, 2012, 08:12:01 pm »
Well its easy to trace an IP and find the route to it. I was wondering if i could somehow see where an ip connects to. I mean if there is a way that to find where exactly and when the user of this IP connects to facebook or google or etc.

Any ideas?
Just asking and saying my opinion... :)

well you can do it to people on the same segment of the network as you, with a modem connected directly into the network and a sniffer

here is a video from defcon explaining it better
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBtdZDah6iE

but i dont think thats what you want so . No

Well theoretically it is possible to make a sniffer virus that would catch and log traffic in the network, including the victim. Maybe there is such thing already but I don't know of any.
Maybe another project for bubz? :D

If its an ip on a network you have admin access to couldn't you just use wireshark to sniff packets coming from that specific IP? Or sniff all packets from the network then filter out the ones from the target IP? Or does it not work that way lol
