Ohhhh mann. They can print a stock for an AR-15 with a 3d printer. I'm sure this will change gun sales everywhere.  But seriously, its nothing big. Its like printing the pull pin for a grenade.

I think what idea of cooperation specialists for development open source gun is great in any way! Yes, now they has not good result, but it`s beginning.

What they have now is the only result. I guess it can change a little, but you are never going to be able to print a spring. Or a barrel that can withstand more than 2 shots. Its cool, but that's really it.

This has been debated more than a few times on hackaday. It will to amount to much because like mentioned you can print springs or effective barrels upon other vital parts. These are and can only be used as one time "zip" guns. You can create a better weapon from some metal tube and wood.

The only thing 3d printing has going on that could be bad is copy right stuff. You will see more of a fuss about people printing minis for warhammer40k and the like.
