[Linux] Must have programs

witch programs in linux do you MUST have?
the first programs you install at a fresh install.
witch drivers do you install ect

ill start with an upgrade
then install video drivers, firefox addons, synaptics, netbeans, codeblock, mouse config, write my auto mount to fstab, theme, network manager openvpn, conky, chromium, xchat, python-tk, nautilus scripts, compat-wireles drivers, vlc, subdownloader, file-roller, gimp, gparted, deluge, :)

whats your procedure do you have?

Wireless drives, but most of the time linux has them. Then chrome, then xchat. Then I install programs as needed.

as much as I hate it, I usually install the proprietary ATI driver first off as I hate my mouse flickering when I move it. I install many programs like Virtualbox, Geany, XChat, (gcc on fedora), flash player, minitube (youtube client), libreoffice if it's not already installed, arduino IDE and banshee (if not already installed).  This is on a Debian based distribution, so if you want me to get into something like arch ;) that gets pretty long ;)
