Needing some help on this ?
« on: October 21, 2012, 06:05:03 pm »
I refuse to do freaking surveys just to unlock some password file for a rar archive ! I've tried zip archive crackers and changing the rar to zip but that didn't turn out so well. ...

I'm trying to use the terminal program called 'extract' to find the password text but I got this to go on:

Keywords for file Bored.rar:
MD5 - d3c5b2488d09ad341db1cfc02ddfc33d
mimetype - application/x-rar

So anyone know how or what I could do to turn that what's in bold face into text ? Or is there a simpler or different way that I could crack this using Linux ?

Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advanced .... :/

Oh P.S. I didn't think of this till now but since I saved the md5 hash into a text file, is there any converter or the likes that I could use ? ....

there is no "md5 to plain" converter, you'll have to brute-force the md5 hash...

You won't get the password that easily from a RAR archive. The MD5 hash you got there is a CRC (integrity check), so you can compare with other hashes (provided by officials/authors) in order to know if your file ir corrupt or not.

There are password bruters for rar archive files, search around, because I don't know any.
