what uses hacking wise does php have?

hey guys. so I am about intermediate with php and I wanted to know what uses it has for hacking.
I have been trying to learn to hack through hackthissite.org do you guys think this is a good resource?
do you guys know of any better resource to learn from other than hackthissite.org?

I started trying to learn through hackthissite.org and the first couple of basic missions (that is all I could get through). None of which had anything to do with php but mostly javascript.

should I start learning javascript instead of php for hacking?

Any language is limited by your ability to think. If you can't think of a alternate way of doing something with your code (ie, not something that can be taught or googled) then give up you don't have the right mindset.

I think as far as web dev goes SQL is more what you want for hacking....although I think every hacker should know PHP.

Language is just the tool. This has been asked before with other language in mind, but I will repeat myself saying that language is JUST A TOOL.
It's just like using a hammer - if your mind is limited to hitting the nail then you know... but a hammer can have many uses, like fixing broken things, taking stuff apart, ripping nails out etc.

Do you understand me? if you cannot think for yourself what to do with a language, then you sir do not have a hacker mind, because when a thing gets broken, you don't fall down and sob, you ask WHY!? and rip it apart.

PHP is actually a useful tool for server side stuff. But yeah, figure out how to do it first, then pick which language to code it in.

I think I need to learn to use the right languages for the right applications and you guys helped me figure out that there will never be a blanket language that covers everything.
you guys also helped me to figure out that I should not just go and search for a walkthrough but if I am stuck work harder to figure out how to complete what I am stuck on and that way I will learn more.
I think that over the coming months I will learn alot about hacking and security and I bet alot of that will be through you guys helping me out and your tutorials so I feel obligated to thank you guys in advanced so thanks haha
