« on: November 08, 2012, 11:42:23 am »
Guys I need to recover SMS that must have been deleted. It's an android phone. Do you know that where the sms are stored on the phone, and in what format? Can you give me info on any tool that might come in handy.
PS : to be exact it's Samsung Galaxy s3 and android version 4.04

You cannot recover deleted messages... unless ICS posses some voodoo magic I don't know about. But I am positive you cannot recover shit once it's deleted.

I don't think there exists a method to recover deleted SMS's, unless you have them backed up by an app then you can simply restore them. In the play store you can find many apps to achieve this task.

Best way to see deleted messages is to contact your cell provider and ask them for copies of your messages sent in the last X amount of time. If your the account holder, they will provide them too you. If not, your fucked ^_^

Unless the SMS contains nuclear missile abort codes, it's not worth going this way :P most likely the provider will just ignore the request tho :P

? not in the USA at any rate. parents do that all the time to check on their kids messages, husbands on wifes and vice versa. if your in the grand ol' USA you'll get it lol. i forget exactly what to ask for, but just give your local office a call and theyll help you out

I also think it's not worth to beg the cell provider for the message. I am wondering don't the android phone store each sms as a file?

Lol no, That would be such an overkill. Everything is stored in a database.

doesnt it have to be stored somewhere on the phone though as a temp db file to be able to display it. if that was true you could code a program to save those temp db files. or just take the ones that are currently on the phone. maybe your deleted message is in there or not.

reading them would be a simple copy paste job if you have rooted access and all that. and you could use sql to view the db files.
though once deleted the only copy is going to be on the server sorry buddy. i highly doubt that the phone saves deleted rows in the db. but shot it could be worth a look if you have root access.

Of course you can recover deleted text messages from Samsung. Make sure that you haven't overwritten your data. Use Android Data Recovery to get back your SMS. Good luck!

Don't think OP is still around for your answer but am sure it will help others.

This app seems to be specialized for your need. Although it has a lot of negative user rates, i think it's mainly because most of those people have failed to recover their SMS because they have already overwritten their temporary storage.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sms.recovery

If you haven't already, give it a shot.
