Backtrack in vmware

I am running backtrack 5 r2 KDE in vmware.The problem is that I want the changes to be persistent and whenever I change something, the changes are not kept(between reboots).How can I make the changes persistent in Backtrack while running this in vmware? Hope you understand my question...

Hi Dark Nebulae,

you need to install it if you are running the live CD you wont have persistents (as far as I know). Just click the "Install Backtrack" shortcut on the desktop (if you allready booted from the live CD).

lol you need to remember that the ISO you have set to boot off of is a live CD as RedBull explained you need to install it on the Virtual Hard Drive and then remove it from booting the ISO so it will load the OS from the virtual drive.

When you go to download page chose vmware image not ISO,or you can install it by yourself

I installed it as redbull explained, now the menu at the  startup is different , it asks for username and password. Does that mean I have installed it successfully and the changes will be kept?

I knew that the password is toor and the username is root .
I was asking did it meant I had installed it successfully or not because I am upgrading my r2 to  r3.
And it is a very slow process and takes a lot of time(my downloads speed sucks).
If it is booting from the cd-rom, I will not update it again.
