Personality Types Psychology
« on: November 20, 2012, 05:01:52 am »
Something I've always been fascinated by in psrsonality psychology. Specifically the Keirsey Temperament and its predecessor, The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Unlike a lot of personality theories I've studied it seems to be the most accurate and avoids common pitfalls like being so general that the results could describe anyone.
I was thinking today and started wondering what personality types would be common in this community so I thought I would post a good test that I found.
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

I would recommend looking up the results on this website though because it gives more detailed explanations. (even though it looks like it was designed in 2003 or something lol)
http://www.personalitypage.com/html/high-level.html

I'm an INTP.
Logical, original, creative thinkers.  Can become very excited about theories and ideas.  Exceptionally capable and driven to turn theories into clear understandings.  Highly value knowledge, competence and logic.  Quiet and reserved, hard to get to know well.  Individualistic, having no interest in leading or following others.

Pretty cool survey, I liked it. :D Im an ENTJ
I agree with it for the most part, but I think it is difficult to categorize a personality under a single category, as human beings are dynamic. I agree with the qualities it says i posses, but I also believe I go under thinker as well. I love to do all that ENTJ stuff, but I really love to learn, debate, and spread my potential as well.
+1 for the find.

I am INTJ. I don't think that really fits. But I don't think much of personality tests anyways.

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%)
You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)
You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (50%)
You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (11%)
The same for 2 years. I don't think it means nothing, tho. I change a lot, it depends on the day.

Lol Uriah I'm not surprised at all that you're extroverted. :D

The thing to keep in mind if you're a teenager is that your personality is still under development. Also, sometimes taking tests aren't as accurate as learning about what the different traits mean and deciding for yourself. I used to get all kinds of weird results with test but I think that's because I was reading too much into them. It took me a while to nail down what my type is.

What I really like the most about personality types is that it's really helped me understand other people. Something that doesn't come natural to me. For example I'm perceiving so I don't jump to conclusions quickly and I usually am slow to pick a side on an issue. People who were the opposite made no sense to me. Now I realize that it's just a different way of thinking.

Another fun thing to do is to google famous people of your type.

I got one a lot different than all of yall lol.

Code: [Select]
ENFJ - The Giver

Popular and sensitive, with outstanding people skills. Externally focused, with real concern for how others think and feel. Usually dislike being alone. They see everything from the human angle, and dislike impersonal analysis. Very effective at managing people issues, and leading group discussions. Interested in serving others, and probably place the needs of others over their own needs.

I am INFJ -gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals.  Artistic and creative, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types.

It actually does fit me quite well. This was my first personality test, how interesting..
I want techb to take it and to read what mine says.. It's kind of creeping me out a little.

My husband is an ISTJ. It was helpful for us in our relationship, learning each others types because while we are very similar we do think differently.

But if you read anything that says you guys aren't compatible just ignore it. Supposedly he and I aren't and also me and my best friend aren't lol.
