Question About PayPal
« on: January 06, 2013, 01:15:24 am »
Hey everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong section I couldn't really decide where to put this. This is about a PayPal account that I had(NotBlackhat) and that it will go into the negative balance soon. I know you will tell me to search on google but I did and most of the places are unreliable. I have a dispute for 125$ which will put me -125$ in debt with paypal. Although the account doesn't have my real name, number, address, bank account, nothing. But I have another account with all that information on it. When my paypal goes negative will they look at my IP and associate the other account with my legit account and come after me that way? What will happen?

You should be ok, as long as they are in no way linked you should be fine.

What you are suggesting would be like someone makes a dispute against me and my friend logs into his paypal from my terminal, they wouldn't just take the funds from an account that got logged in under a similar or the same IP.

Awesome!! That is great!! Your correct there is no linked "Information" the only thing that is the same is the IP address, which your right.. I mean I could just be running a proxy service or something, they have no idea. Thanks for your response!!!

You should relax. Nothing is gonna happen. IP address is NOT enough to link you to your real account, because one IP can be used by thousands of people.
Trust me on this one, relax and next time use some anonimity measures.

According to the law PayPal can not link or associate paypal accounts just because of the same IP. They would need to conduct a proper investigation, but they ain't gonna do it because it would cost many many times more then the -125 dollars that you owe them. Just forget that account and never log into it again. Also clean your browser history, cookies and delete the router logs if you have them enabled.
If this was a much larger amount or you would have done something more serious and they did conduct an investigation, your computer and networking hardware would be checked so it doesn't hurt to get rid of all traces. So even though they would know that same external IP was used, they would have no proof that it was you who both accounts belong to. After all, you could say maybe some random guy cracked your wifi router password and used your connection to do that stuff.

But in this specific case I doubt they would bother to do anything. 125 dollars is absolutely nothing for paypal.
