Is this the end of firefox?
« on: January 19, 2013, 06:00:32 pm »
I've been using firefox for many years now and my automatic reflex when I want to browse the web is to hit the firefox button but I'm sick of this incessant crashing so I'm switching to opera and chrome as my primary browsers. I liked firefox for many reasons but it crashes so often that I can't get through a 20 minute youtube video without it crashing at least once. Will mozilla redeem firefox or is this the end of this great browser?

Well, there is already a similar thread opened about firefox here  http://evilzone.org/found-it-on-the-webs/the-death-of-firefox/

Thats my post there

From the "Big Five" Firefox and Opera are the browsers that don't have a huge corporation with unlimited money to spend in advertising (Apple, Google, Microsoft) and a OS (MacOS X/iOs, Chrome OS/Android, Windows/WP7) to spread the software on their side.Opera stagnates at 1-2%, Firefox has the support of the OS-community (and lots of Google's money), but cannot compete against those giants. I for one prefer the underdogsFirefox may continue to go down in market share, but it surely isn't going to die.

And again i think although FF has lost it's place it wont die, i believe FF devs they will change this negative picture.
I never gona use Google Chrome i prefer Iron chrome,or pale moon which is FF based. FF will always be my first choice even if i have to use it bareboned.

Isn't there already a thread like this started by Mr. Perfect? In any case Firefox will never die. And I don't know why you are experiencing crashes... FF's never crashed on me. I will also never use chrome because Google likes to harvest all of your data. 'Nuff said. Google is a great search engine and made a great phone, but I will be staying away from Chromium under any and all circumstances.

I'm on Ubuntu, what about you? Maybe its a problem with the way the linux version interacts with the flash plugin. I agree with you about chrome. I cringe at the idea of using a browser created by google.

Ah! There's the deciding factor I think. I also never experience crashes. Considering that you are on Ubuntu that might be an indicator of whats wrong...

Yes I'm also hinting something.
