karma is how people rate you, if you are bad grammar, or annoying or troll, you get minus. if you are good, helpful or funny(not too much) people like you. karma's b*tch, keep that in mind, too low karma, and you are considered as spammer

Karma can be given to each individual within 1 hour of each other, it should not be abused, as you really leave a mark on the user that you neg/pos.

Otherwise, there are no rules for it, just use commonsense with it.

Should also add that you should post in the correct thread, be careful with that.

You are not following standard protocol for posting on forums.
1. You limit yourself to ask questions, not contributing with anything special;
2. You do not search before post, otherwise you wouldn't post about the karma system since it has been posted before and more than once;
3. Some people may give bad karma because of grammar, but I don't think that's the case.
4. As WirelessDesert said, you should post in the correct section. For example, this thread is clearly in the wrong section (Members intro?).

Also, your post asking for help hacking some router, I mean, how do you want us to spoon-feed you? A silver spoon okay? Or do you require a gold one?

No one expects you to be a pro at everything. Being a noob is not the problem as everyone is a noob in something.
The problem is your belief, that you can only learn things if others tell you how. You have a vast world filled with information, called the internet and you have a nice search machine that will tell you most of the things you need, called google. Use that. Don't let others do the work for you. You learn best if you first try on your own and try hard. You won't get good at something if you don't have the motivation to put work into it.

We will of course help you, if we see that you do put work into it. Read this: http://catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
