Looking for a way to bleach paper
« on: February 11, 2013, 01:13:28 am »
Hello I need to bleach ink off a document printed on a standard inkjet printer, I did quite a bit of research and I found few recipes on how to do it, I need help of someone who knows chemistry well on the safest way to do this efficiently and what printer to use afterwards.

a ) use bleach+Acetone+peroxide bath which is 20-30 minute process
b ) use Thiourea dioxide (Formamidine sulfinic acid)
c ) use Lye

If anyone knows of a good and efficient way of doing this please let me know

Not that easy, paper has a paper raised seal on it so it has to be bleached and reprinted.

Scan the paper, use photoshops content aware tools like spot healing tool to remove the ink, and print it again.

Are you trying to kill yourself?
Option a will relsult in a highly dangerous unstable explosive.
DONT DO THAT AND IM FUCKING SERIOUS!

Option c will weaken/destroy paper, turn it into a gelly mess.

Did you read my post ?
If there happens to be any catalyzing agent present your bound to form triacetoneperoxide.
Fuck I cant believe I have to repeat this.
Its REALLY FUCKING DANGEROUS.

Sigh , if this substance or its more unstable form diacetoneperoxide crystalizes out on the paper it takes only a minor distrubance to detonate.
Im not gonna explain why I know these things, just trust me.

A lot of retarded kids blew their hands off.

What if I do it with bleach+Acetone first rinse with water, and then use peroxide if it's still not white enough?

Bleach will react in a slightly similar fashion as hydrogen peroxide.
However in reality there is probably not much that can go wrong.
You dont need the acetone in the first place, I also dont understand why you thought you would.
Either bleach or hydrogen peroxide will do the job.
Even sodiumpercarbonate will do the job.
Bleach is industrially used for bleaching paper.
You could add some sodiumhydroxide to increase the formation of singlet oxygen O1.

Alright thanks, do you know what type of bleach would be best for such experiment? Just regular or some type of industrial bleach?

Regular bleach would work fine, might not be fast though.

However tablets are sold in many countries all over the world.
Most often as a swimming pool chemical.
Iirc its sodiumhypochlorite, that way you can determine the concentration yourself.
Trial and error.
