One question...

I am having my exam on 16-Feb and for this we were solving question of qualitative reasoning. It was one question that took us 1 hr and then we took that question to our teachers and no one was able to solve it. Unfortunately our maths teacher was absent. So the question is here. The question has a specific pattern and I couldn't find it. So I need help.

We have to find the number in place of '?'.
OPTIONS: a)553     b)850              c)414              d)265

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

"A" ... just a guess as I really have no clue and don't understand a bit of it but 'a' "looks" like it'd fit better.  850 seems too high, 414 & 265 both too low.  553 seems 'about right'.  Like I said..no clue, just guessing.


I welcome the opportunity to learn more about it.  If you find the answer(and confirm it), I'd love to know how it should be solved.  If I didn't say something, I might never learn about it so....again, A.
