Windows 8 Live from USB?
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:40:35 am »
so I upgraded to windows 8 some time ago, but i hated it. It's just not the old, friendly windows I Was used to. So I decided to get back to 7, but I still need 8 for some development frameworks that are not supported in win7. So I thought about booting it in Live from a USB drive.
Is this possible? I've heard about Windows To Go, and I've read some web tuts but I'm not sure which one is the best approach. Has anyone tried this before?

Didnt try, but setting up win 8 in your flash drive should do it. just make sure your PCs bios supports the flash drive version(if its USB 3, than it wont boot your flash drive) and make your flash drive bootable (if your bios supports it) befor starting to use it.

So basically just boot and install it on the USB drive? No live version?

To do this you would really have to setup your usb as a storage device through your bios. Once it is setup like that through your bios boot off  the windows 8 disk and install it to the usb (which will automatically make it recognized as a mfs device on all machines. So to boot off of it just go to the bios and make it the default boot device.
