[SOLVED]Problems with Windows 7 in Virtualbox?
« on: February 20, 2013, 09:08:49 pm »
I tried to install Windows 7 in VBox today and I get this error as soon as windows tries to startup:

Code: [Select]
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix this problem:

    1. Insert your Windows installation disk and restart the computer.
    2. Choose your language settings and click next.
    3. Click "Repair your Computer."

If you do not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

    Status: 0xc0000225

Info: An unexpected error has occured.

Do I need to actually use the installation disk? I figured I could just use the iso like with installing anything else in vbox.

Yea you most likely have to because that error(after some scourging around) has to do something with corruption in the Master Boot Records in your registry. Here is a link I found that will help you fix it:

I think you misunderstood. I am trying to install windows 7 in VirtualBox using an ISO. So I can't get into the repair/installation part because it only goes as far as that error that I posted. I am not trying to fix the MBR on my host OS. I inserted the installation disk to try to get the vbox OS to boot using that but Virtualbox has never worked for me with external usbs or cds.

EDIT: Nevermind I fixed it. All I had to do was check the Enable IO APIC box. I also checked the Enable PAE/NX box but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it.
