[w3schools] Beginners course web development
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:05:39 am »

Hi all,

Always wanted to start creating websites?, having a passion for creation?, want to get some money creating websites?.

I will write a little course down, using a VERY great website called w3schools.

w3schools is a very popular tutorial website.
With tutorials written by the master web developers.

So, where do i start??

The layout\basic informational websites:
A basic website is created mostly using HTML, this is a MUST known language in web development.
Start with going to http://w3schools.com/, read the main page, then continue on to the very big HTML tutorial.
Nothing to explain further, i will put down a list of languages in order so you know what to learn and become a good webdev.

Frontend:
HTML
CSS
Javascript(mostly for interaction, i prefer learning php first, and when you reach the ajax section going on to javascript.).

Backend:
PHP!!
SQL\MySQL

If you got stuck, post here and i will help you out:).
There are lots of other things to learn, but after this you will know that yourself.

To be updated, gotta go to work now so more is coming soon.

W3schools is good to learn a lot of web related development. I my self learned a lot from that site and it is a good reference point for me. But, like you said, the tutorials are very simplistic and not suited for people who don't know must about security or programming in general.

Plus, I don't think there is a part with classes in PHP, is there?

Still great site! I recommend it!

I am using w3shcools for a year now and i think i am in a good stage. So, for a starter i think its a good choice but if you want to add  PHP and Mysql i recommend php.net.

HTML & CSS/CSS3 => http://www.w3schools.com/
PHP & MySQL => http://php.net/

PS. Its not something great but my current website is http://cs.uoi.gr/~cs091770/. If you wanna make something like this (personal website) w3schools is awesome :) Have fun guys!
