My own opinion is, i think it's not that good. Seen this times 10 in level of beauty. Keep tweaking it, it might get very good tough.

Looks nice, however a few points that made it difficult for me to "see" the picture:

1. The EVILZONE text has a shade that is very very big, and this leads to border confusion (i.e. I can't see where the letter ends and the background starts)
2. If there's gonna be text in the big letters, I'd recommend putting one category per letter. So right now you have E - security/hacking; V - cracking/networkz (maybe lose the z?); I - botnet/anon; Z - security again. If you have one or two where possible of each "topic" it would be more revealing in terms of what EvilZone is.
3. Not sure if this would look good, but if you imagine each individual letter as being a display and color it accordingly (a dark tint of grey maybe), but keep it in relatively good contrast to the background, I think the whole "hacker with green letters on his screen" theme would be more obvious. Y'know like this:



Of course these are just my 2c on the design, nothing more.

I liked your third point. But I'll have to see how well that would fit.
About the second point, I actually did a whole layer filled with the text and then a layer mask. Doing what you suggested won't be problem but I'll look further to see what can be done to make it better.
And I like the glow this way.

I like it but.. it does not seem like there is enough contrast between the text and the background. As mordred said, the border between the evilzone lettering and the background is too blurred, however, i think this may be caused by the very small variety of colours.. it all seems to be very similar shades of green. maybe what is needed is something to make the text seem a little less flat, or something that seems to make it stand in front of the background... perhaps a border shadow of a pixel or two would do the job for sharpening between the lettering and the glow, or even, making an internal shadow.. (apologies, my train of thought is running loose.. these ideas do not necessarily need to be considered)

Did you take a look at the enlarged view? There's a border actually only a 1pixel border though.
Making a shadow in the traditional way would prove to be a bit hard since the text layer is transparent.

making a shadow shouldnt be much of a problem... its just getting layers right. not all of it has to be on the same layer, just because THAT text layer is transparent, does not mean you cant have a duplicate with a shadow on it, and with a bit of 'jiggery-pokery' have the shadow, with no text trouble
