Two problems
« on: March 13, 2013, 08:43:58 am »
Can somebody pleas give me some hits for solving the following problems?

1. The pc starts but only shows me the boot menu and when i choose anything, it simply restarts.

Things that i tried:

1. Tried to see if i can boot something els like linux live but cant do that becaus of the second problem.
2. Unplugde and re-pluged the HDD with the motherboard.
3. Kicked the cpu very hard when i got sick of it.
4. Will try to boot something from a usb stick when i get access to my dads laptop.

2nd problem:
the dvd rom doesnt come out.

Things i tried:
1. I used to push a small quick or something like that through the small hole near the dvd disk slider(dont know exactly what its called) and it came out. but now it doesnt work anymore.

2. Opene the dvd rom and  looked for any loose string that pulls the slider in an out but couldnt go very far.

3. Kicked the cpu again. But no use.

Currently im doing nothing....... my school tests are all over and got noting els to do(everything is soo boring) . Im hopping my parents will buy a new one as this pc is like 13 year old.

Go for the USB however I am suprised that if its indeed 13 years old, which is REALLY old there is any such option, im pretty sure that wasnt supported back than.
Man I could built something faster than that just from the scrap I have lying around.

USB shuld work as a option to Live OSing on that computer, I have a maybe 15 years old computer that I made into a impromptu server, it worked with the USB port.

Another solution is to maybe remove the CMOS battery, and then reinserting, could just be a problem like that.

Oh, and buy a new computer :).

Problems solved,

1. Problem was with the motherboard. Now its replaced.

2. Just have to push the hold with a larger pin.

Edit: another problem,

The built-in usb ports in the new motherboard dont work, only the external usb ports(that i plugd manualy) works.

What should i do? Install drivers or something?

Well, drivers are OS related.
What OS were you running?
