Pirated XBOX360 games and ABGX
« on: March 22, 2013, 12:05:01 pm »
Question for xbox owners who like to test out games before they buy them. Is it really needed to use ABGX all the time?
I can't find a reasonable answer why you first must run the ISO through ABGX and only then burn it? Of course the main reason doing so it because it patches something so you can play online.
But I don't play online, I don't use any multiplayer modes.

I did an experiment once, I ran a game through ABGX, burned it and tried to play. It didn't work saying the disc is not readable. I burned the same ISO without running through ABGX and the game was launched, no errors. Sometimes I get the opposite - game doesn't work until I run it through ABGX.

So, the question would be, why do you have to use ABGX and how do you know if you need to or not?

I have ruined many, many double-layer DVD's because of this and it's really annoying because they are costly around here.

I have never actually done this because I don't have a double-layer optical drive  :( , but it's my understanding that it patches the game in a way that you won't get caught for doing this. I guess though if that doesn't matter because you don't play online than there is no real reason why you need to. I'm not an expert on this but if I were you I would just say fuck it and give it a try. What's the worst that could happen.

I have no idea how to tell if you actually need to or not though. Maybe it's got to do with how old the game is? Not a clue.
