Hacking and Security / BT5 - Meterpreter - Persistance help
« on: March 01, 2012, 01:47:09 am »
Well, I've been practicing compromising my own computers with the SET. I've been using the Java applet attack, or using the infectious media generator, which makes an autorun and a server(sort to speak) file. Once I have access to my own system and spawned a meterpreter shell, how can I run the persistance module? I type in

 "run persistance -h"

 and in return I get "The specified script could not be found: persistance"

 I'm trying to set up a back door so I can have access to it later, can anyone help me here?

Hacking and Security / Re: Spoofing Email address?
« on: February 20, 2012, 06:37:10 am »
I think there are websites that would let you send anonymous emails to anyone you like

Although this would be the easy way out, I'd like to do it myself, learn the process and perform it.

http://www.getmantra.com/galley/misc/index.html
^^ See the E-mail section over there  ;)

By the way, you can customize the "Reply To" address, so that when the victim replies to your mail, it will to your inbox rather than the "From" address.

Handy website, it actually worked, but do you have any knowledge of how this works? If you do, please share. Thanks guys.

Not that I condone anything illegal, but just think of the money you could make sending an email to a gullible user as paypal or the like,,,,
Oh, and you can mess with your less tech savy friends by sending them an email as God... ;)

Well, I've been trying to do this via telnet but it seems most websites have their port 25 (smtp) closed... or is it possible it's set to a different port? Could a port scan possible fix this? The website I'm trying to
spoof as has their port 25 closed.

You didn't search, did you?

This link is for sending mails
This link is for creating a light SMTP server

I tested it and it works.

I actually did, I searched through that portableapps website you linked me too, I found some thunderbird stuff.
And Thanks for those two links!

Theres a way me and a friend used to do it without loading any apps, but they shouldnt have to have telnet. Just you....
http://www.cmdln.org/2008/04/06/testing-email-manually-with-telnet-spoofing-email/

On the other hand, an app would make this so much easier, looking forward to the link dump :)

Useful link man :P .

EDIT:
I've tried using QM, whenever I put in the credentials for the server info (live.smtp.com) and the port 587, I get some kind of error that's like "530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first" I don't get it?

Yes, the easy way to do it is thro telnet, just grap the server ip first....

I don't get what you mean, but I'm pretty sure their telnet port is closed. lol.

There are simple apps for that and I have them on my flash drive... I'll share when I get home if I won't forget heh...browsing on my android now...
Meanwhile you can check portableapps.com or whatever the sitawas.

That would be of great help man. Thanks a lot.

Hacking and Security / Spoofing Email address?

Hey guys, is there such a method to spoof your email? Let's say I want to send an email to someone, instead of my real email showing, it would show admin@admin.com. Is this possible? Maybe with some kind of SMTP program written in VB/python?

Hacking and Security / Re: LiveUSB loaded with BT5
« on: February 06, 2012, 12:44:12 pm »
a live usb is a non-persistent operation system, it is more secure because everything you do is not saved.

However, you can create a BT5 persistent usb OS,  http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/index.php/Persistent_USB

Wow, great link, thanks man.

I have two quick questions though; if I were to make a file on the LiveUSB BT5, but then delete it before I reboot, will it still mess up the the liveusb? Also, am I able to bookmark pages on firefox?

Hacking and Security / LiveUSB loaded with BT5

So I've had my USB loaded with BT5 for a while now, one thing I've noticed is that I can't save, or make new files on it. Like for example, I'll make a random text document, save it to my root folder, when I restart and try to boot back into BT5 from my USB, it just loads windows. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or am I just not supposed to have files saved on the LiveUSB that has BT5?

@Kulverstukas:
 Alright I understand what your saying. Mind sharing any experiences with C? Like learning, or what kind of exploits you've written, perhaps?

@FuyuKitsune:
  Oh, I've heard of that book, I'll make sure to check it out! Thanks a lot.

Edit: I'm interested in learning Java, as it looks rather fun to learn. Do you guys find it useful?

C or Delphi are often used for exploits. Of course you'll need to know ASM for finding the exploits. C is a bit more difficult than Delphi. Delphi is good and compiles to remarkably small and fast code.
If you already know some scripting languages then find the exploit using that, then write the payloads in C or Delphi or whatever gives you small enough code.

Sorry, no networking tips.

Dang, ASM is rather confusing lol. Any suggestions on books?

stick with python.. compiled langs are for a different thing entirely(btw use C, don't bother with anything else, C is god to all).

Why do you say C is so good? :O.

Hmm, I see.

So what language do you suggest for developing quick/large exploits?

Also, do you have any tips on finding vulnerabilities in networks/websites? I think I want to lean more into 802.11 pen testing, just general stuff in that 'network' genre.

Oh wow, I hadn't realized this topic was still going on, thanks for all the replies guys!

@Area_13
 Why do you say Python is the worst for this?

@Python
 Recommend any good books about that subject? I personally love reading, so I don't mind if it's a big book.

Btw, what do you guys think about this guy's post?

Hacking and Security / Wireless Adapter (NetGear WG111v2)
« on: January 23, 2012, 11:35:05 pm »
Hey guys, I've done some research and supposedly the "NetGear WG 111v2" is compatible with BT5. Whenver I try to type airmon-ng I get nothing. I'm using BT5 Gnome on VMWare. I installed the driver for my real OS (Win7) and everything worked fine, how can I make VMWare pick it up or whatever? Thanks guys!

 Edit: Btw here's an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raWTxkKw4nk
 at 1:43 when he plugs in his wg111v2, it says "VMWare usb device", mine doesn't say that? O_O.
