Not necessarily. I would explain, but I don't really want to spend the next 10 minutes writing a rant about Microsoft, end users, idiots, and human nature in general. Instead, I'll just say this: Most people are fucking idiots.

most of my games don't run there
That's why we:
    1) Use WINE (although it can be a bit of a headache sometimes).
    2) Dual-boot (which I see as superior because one could run it as an install dedicated to simply playing games).

P.S: I'm running Windows (which will change when I build my new computer).

Also, PlayOnLinux is an additional abstraction layer for Wine which automatically configures Wine prefixes and has various installation shell scripts for different software. Useful for novices or people who are too lazy.

I do believe it's called a "false sense of security". But yeah, no security is better than a false sense of security.

My favorite retort of the day.

Agreed.

People are sheep. At my job we call them Sheeople. We sell antivirus made from F-Secure, it is shit, the company I work for is shit, it is all shit. But I get money when people agree to buy the shit. I use my knowledge and social engineering to get these sheep to buy the shit that is shit.

All in all, the general public is all just a bunch of sheep buying stuff people tell them to buy. People like Microsoft  AND Apple make it look and sound good. The public buy into it and pay for the crap.

Sorry gh0st, your are just a sheep. It's not hard, it is just beyond the scope of what you are willing to learn.

I can honestly say the reign of Apple and Microsoft are slowly, slowly, coming to an end. The generations coming after use are learning via memes and other media that what they knew aren't what is best. It is up to us and what we teach to help the future. I have seen and read more in the about open-source and the likes in the last 5 years than ever. Let the geeks and nerds teach the up and coming.

i wish people were learning techb i really do but i get in this argument at least once a month and hell i try my best to avoid the argument. people dont get it, they either do not understand or are unwilling to understand very basic facts. It doesnt matter how you explain something, they will refute you with the circular logic of a 5 year old.

Hell for the life of me i dont get why people think microsoft is more evil than apple. they charge 250$ for an OS that you can put on a 300$ computer or 2000$ dollar computer. Apple charges 2-4x the cost on parts for the same performance meaning that 2g computer hardware wise is being equaled if not out performed by a 500$ PC. thats 1500$ for their OS. tell me that is worth it. Tell me they are "innovative" when the last original idea they had was firewire. Tell me they are a "good: company when they have had multiple security breaches involving mass CC fraud that they STILL deny(and i mean in the past 5 years they have had at least 3 major breaches that they deny). Tell me they are so smart when their PC manufacturing side has almost bankrupted them multiple times, being saved by the ipod/iphone/itunes while loosing money almost every quarter on their PC side. and ofc the icing on the cake is all the proprietary shit that comes with their products.

ok this is turning into a rant....im going to stop their before the aneurysm apple products give me explodes all over my screen. maybe ill just turn this into an article later....

Well , first i love the shit part , second you just summed up my mind in one comment  8)
But since i have some relative still saying , yeah but i pay an expansive system to be secure ... it will be long to make an end to this evil reign .

Yeah , if you could just read some documentation , to check yourself if your computer is safe , it would be great , and the best way to look forward your computer security .
