Choosing between 2 laptops

So the time came to upgrade my laptop to a faster one. I mainly do development and when running an IDE that eats 1GB of ram, then Firefox eats up another 300mb, then a VM another 500mb and that results in a painfully slow browsing, development and a Pentium CPU that is screaming in agony.
Now I can't decide between these two laptops (don't suggest anything else from amazon or other places! I am choosing between these two!):

The specs are pretty much equal, but the second option for 10euros more has a GeForce external VGA but no full-hd screen that the first option has and I like the first option more for the look. I am leaning towards the first option currently.

But those are the details, what I can't find in any review is how is the performance of those handling memory-heavy IDE's and virtualization? I can't put in SSD because I need space.

So thoughts?

If personally go with the lenovo, mainly because I'm not a fan of dells. In any case the specs line up, so you're not really going to experiance any gaping performance difference between the 2

I can do a vote based on brand alone, lenovo for sure.
Also the intel HD graphics are much more flexible when it comes to drivers , works with anything.

I personally don't use laptops very often, so I don't have much to say on that part,
but personally I've had a lot of bad experiences with dell products.
I'm not the only one, either, I'm sure.
For example, they used to sell a product with a charger that wasn't the correct shape...
So...no Dell....you will regret it!

I'm not a Lenovo fan, but I think it's the best choice, mainly because of the Intel HD Graphics. If you will work on a GNU/Linux system, the Intel graphics might work out of the box.

+1 for Lenovo.

I have a Lenovo yoga pro 2 and it runs great , haven't had any issues  so i vote lenovo .

I like how everyone is like fuck Dell, get the IBM/Lenovo and there is a good reason. As far as laptops go, I always suggest Lenovo, good price, solid laptops. I usually recommend against HP/Compaq and Dell. If you want to go fancy go with ASUS and if you want to save a buck and get something cheap but still better than HP/Dell get an Acer. I've owned HPs, Compaqs, Dells, Acers, ASUS', and Lenovo. The two laptops I currently have is an ASUS Tablet/Laptop and a Lenovo, the one with a broken screen Acer, and the HP, Compaq and Dell are in the garbage.

Also the majority of laptops that get taken to me for repair from family and friends are usually HP/Compaq and Dell

Dang. I thought so myself, dell is kinda meh, always was. Does anyone know about the general performance of these specs when it comes to demanding programs and VM's? IMO it should be smooth and fast...

I would say dell cause i have 5520 r for more then 2 years now. Never had any problems with it. Only minor cleaning of fans. Dont know how much is lenovo better this days cuse few years ago i used friends lenovo and i constantly had fealing that letters from keyboard gonna fakl off. The reason i went with dell when i bought laptop is that it was ubuntu ready and only dell was offeribg 3 years of warnity period others had 2 or less.

Thanks all for suggestions (and darkvision for death threats if I went with dell), but I bought Lenovo as it seemed a much better variant.
I'll report back about the performance and usage of it.

You are the first person in the entire internet that I've ever met that suggested towards getting a dell.

Lenovo bought IBM, you know one of the original creators of personal computers and some of the early laptop creators. After purchasing IBM Lenovo definitely stepped their game up when it comes to their laptops.

Don't forget to google about lenovo backdoors. This is huge topic

Care to elaborate? Backdoors in the software? That's non issue because I'm pretty confident that Kulverstukas wouldn't leave it an OEM install.

Lenovo is obviously the better choice here but I felt bad that so many people criticized dell. Obviously dell laptops are on the more expensive side but it doesn't mean they suck. If you don't agree checkout the latest xps13, I think probably one of the most well built windows laptop out there right now with really good linux support. Lenovo T series and X1 Carbon are also some of my favorites though some of them are way more expensive dunno if I'll ever be able to afford that.
