REPEATED OFFENDER?
SO, they are allowed to waste my time calling after they were told not to?
I told them that i was not interested.....
If i am called again what an i supposed to do to stop them from calling?
You definitely don't call someone over to your home relating to a product/service, knowing that you do not want the product/service in the first place. That is very low class. I am not here trying to insult you, I just disagree with what you consider a "prank". How do you know if the "repeat offender" was the same person in each scenario? What if the telemarketer sent someone else to your home? Put yourself in that persons shoes. He works in one of the most "frowned upon" professions in the world, and you invite him to your home to disrespect him personally? I must congratulate the gentleman of scholar, because I would have been charged with breaking and entering, assault, and probably a few more criminal acts.

Actually after i have done so?
I told them not to..after that? I value my time too.

See.. Once you do so the guy will go and moan about it at the workplace during lunch... Soon enough people there come to know.

Look i am an Indian, but here is something you need to know that i am sad to say and ashamed too.

Indians have No works ethics whatsoever..
Those guys you see in Americas are those that sacrificed years to escape shit.
An average Indian does not want to work.
My dad runs a lab, i know how difficult it is to find a person willing to work as a technician?. In a country with so many jobless how difficult is it supposed to be?
Bastards never want to learn, then there are politics..
Look, in  those people will not get any sympathy from me, whatsoever.
You think i have never bought their policies? There is no follow up up service.. Once you buy an insurance the bastard will go his merry way. When the time comes he will never help you get the claim.

Most of those guys never did a honest days work. Always trying to con people, hidden conditions.. False assurances.. No.. I don't think they are getting sympathy from me.

Did i tell you that i am usually   very polite to everyone.. I know it pays to stop so.
No, the problem is that i am sleeping 3 hours a day because i wish to clear the entrance exam of very good business schools. I have no work experience and thus i will have to score very high to beat those with work exp... Because i am not yet out of college.
And then those people call..  I am ambitious and won't settle for a small job.. I have no shame in admitting this. I will kill myself before working at a place where is no chance to get a very good position eventually, that is with loads of money.

I do give chances but my 10 seconds for 10 times a month means 100 seconds lost of my life. Better they waste theirs.

It is their job to *advertise* the product, not deal with what the product does, or help you at all after the phone call. As far as I know telemarketers have the most troublesome job out there. How happy would you be to go to work every day only to get cussed at, yelled at, and insulted, all day long due to your job. Not to be a jerk, but if you have no work experience, how exactly could you tell what an honest days work is? I never meant to insult you, I hope you don't feel as if I did, I simply do not like how you have that ignorant disregard for other people because of their job. Making money pissing people off puts more food on your table then making no money.

I have seen my dad work, I know how hard earning money is when you do work honestly and do not rip people off.. Most doctors here are not honest, very few doctors are.
Do you know how retarded patients are? Add to the fact that most of his are neurological ones.

I do not have ignorant disregard, the world simply works that way. It is a sad fact that i learned too late.
I am trying to undo that mistake.

The way i grew up, i know i am spoiled with all my demands being met.. I know if i had to choose between dying or living a life of telemarketer i will choose dying. And i am doing my best by studying and making sure that i don't.
You Americans have it easy, at your place you can put food on your table, pay bills and pay for healthcare. You have social security and all.. we don't.

as far as i am concerned, the guy calling is getting paid i am not.. Why should i waste MY time for his food?
He is being paid for it right? Then there is a downside for it. Dealing with people like me.

see.. I was all about helping people till last year. A patient of my father decided that my dad was not doing a good job and hit him a few times... Later he apologized, begged and my father accepted it.
But i changed, now i don't even provide water on a hot day to someone who asks it for their kids, and it is a desert where i live.

Really, you can call it disregard, I could care less. If he is putting food by pissing  me off, he better prepare. It is not like I did not tell them to not call me.  If there is a call from HDFC bank this month he will be invited and then turned away. There have already been 2 not interested hang...

It isn't a prank.. It is a way to make them stop calling.

While I can respect getting mad at douchy telemarketers, I am slightly offended by this as I am a telemarketer. I get paid to call people and ofer them newspaper subscriptions, and we have a bad reputation thanks to the shitty companies who really don't give a damn and push you until your pissed, also understand that we telemarketers are people too. If their being rude, rhen by all means prank them. But please, make sure their actually douche bags before being an ass. Idk how many times I call someone and be extremely polite yet get yelled at, have my parents and my sexual orientation called into question, so on so forth. Now while I havent reached the breaking point yet, mostly because I don't want to lose my job, keep in mind when we call you we have your phone number and address at the least. It would pretty simple to order a couple pizzas to your house, place magazine subs for you, etc. Without getting caught

At least, if your getting a call about the paper be polite please. Its fine to ask us to take you off of the list, we will. But there's no.need to be an ass about it, even.if you don't want the paper there are quite a few people who rely on our calls to get the deals on their news sub. Just ask us to take you off the list and don't worry about us calling you again. We don't want to pay the 15000 fine for contacting a number that's been asked to be off the list.

i used to be a telemarketer whenever someone tryed to fool me with a ridiculous story i just had a good time about it
sure its not fun when ppl yell and call u names but you get used to just shake it off, you have to remember they dont hate you just your profession.

anyway this made me lol

What do you guys think about "P_2001"? obviously he is reluctant to understand anything, almost like a child being told santa does not exist. Do you guys consider telemarketing is an "honest days work"?

Perhaps if the whole thing was being perpetrated by some monolithic entity then it would be acceptable for you to do such a thing p_2001 but that's not the people at the phone's decision, that's company policy. When you act out against these individuals, you do nothing but disservice them as a person and do nothing to those who are involved with what you hate.

Also full disclosure; I didn't notice there was a second page to this thread before I posted. But honestly it dosen't look like things went anywhere...

p_2001 is from india. And telemarketers over there ARE assholes. they aren't bound by the same laws that we are, and they do EXACTLY what their told to do, most of which isn't ethical.

hate to say it p_2001, but today I was raging at indians a bit before I calmed down and realized its just their call centers I hate. Im sorry for thinking bad thoughts about your ethnicity  :(

In case your interested, dell has been calling me about my computer that I bought for them cause I forgot to make a payment last month but the person who co-signed for it is my ex-gf's mom who doesn't speak much english. Also whom I have no desire to go and see as the emotions involving my ex are just way to raw atm... anyways, they won't allow me to make payments on my account, or even talk to me about it because she's the co-signer. I offered any info they want to prove it's me, but "im sorry sir, dell has procedures we must follow" blah blah blah. If they were native english  speakers (americans since idk if britain even has call centers...) they would be more likely to help me out, and I don't mean this in an offensive way to any Indian's out there. But indian call center workers do things exactly the way their told by the corporations, none of which helps the customer, there is no "how can i help the customer out" thinking going on. Just "do my job and get paid" mentality. I AM NOT SAYING ALL INDIANS ARE LIKE THIS, NOR AM I SAYING I DISLIKE INDIANS. In fact the store i go to around the corner is run by some pretty cool indian guys who speak fluent Hindu, seriously cool guys, and i like p_2001. that said, i hate your call centers. sorry man :/

*if indian is not the correct term I'm sorry for that too, i'm pretty sure hindu people means people who are believers in hindu and didn't want to presume on your religious beliefs. but i also couldn't remember what the correct term for people from India are, forgive me? *

People from India = Indians or  Hindustani.. No religious definition, plenty of muslims and Christians too... No distinction by language either because to many of them.

Yes, thank you for understanding. When you live in a country with huge jobless population, won't you expect an abundance of labour class?
Sadly you won't find.. Why?
Work ethics. People lack that here.
for telemarketers, it is not just them, it is about what they were trained in. Telemarketers here are trained in taking American accent but they are not trained in the technical department.
All that is done is that they are handed a list of questions and answers to speak from.

If something is missed they are told to bullshit it.
It is their JOB. This way the company can provide 24 hrs service, cut costs And keep the American investors happy.

It is not just the telemarketers, it is the company too... no technical training and greed. Rather than hiring a qualified person they are hiring an unqualified one.. All in the name of cost cutting.

The result is an inept person receiving the call.

The Indians at your place are the cream of the crop... Usually..
They worked hard to escape.. You will find Indian engineers there and lots of them will be good at their job.. They studies for years to escape...

Anyhow, the insurance companies train their marketing guys in the art of misinformation, hiding information and lying.

They well come to your place.. "help" you in buying a policy and then later you will find that you were ripped off.
insurance claim are  rejected on ridiculous basis.

I get call like "sir you own a policy... May i talk to Mr. ............"

The thing is when i called my dad he asked about a minute, confused about which policy... Then the marketer started his sales pitch...

I once asked them to put my number in do not call, the calls still come..

@daemon.. I could care less whether you hated Indians or not. I am not someone who wears false pride. If you hate Indians then you  have your reasons and i respect that.

All i am saying is that the only way i could get the callers of was by "agreeing".

@daemon i apologise.. It was not my intention to insult you... All i am saying is what i have experienced and observed.. never been outside India, i cannot comment about how people in your country are.
Must be better, you guys are far too ahead of us.

Look I don't mean to insult the race at all, but it seems to me as if you are using the country as an excuse to act like a douche bag.  Do not other replying because I could care less what you think. You seem to be very annoying, and I hope you never come to New York. I guarantee that if you continued that behavior around here, you would get "hurt" very often. Enjoy your life.

Mate, you are the one calling me a douche when i did not call you anything.
I will respond with what is appropriate.
Not using country as an excuse either. Just my surroundings. India itself is to bigfor me to stereotype.

Just because i did not agree with you, you will call me a douche? Good.. I wish you all the best in life.. You need it.
Anyhow, all I'm saying is why must i put up with people to get them THEIR food?
I did all i could before reporting to calling them. It was the only way.
If slamming the door at them keeps them away, so be it.. They get paid anyhow, just not the commission on conning a client

With Your attitude i can guarantee that you are hurt by others.
I am good enough to not piss off the wrong people.
i don't have a short fuse either, when i did what i did was after i was conned.. After those insurance dogs did NOT pay me the claim on false reasons. I used a contact, and i could have had the guy sacked, i did not.. He was warned.
But if these people do not back off, what do i do? Even i have bad days and somehow these people call on them... And call again if i hang up !

Anyhow, the way you call others a douche... Can't say.. Really...

Guys, no one proves their point by insulting the person they argue with. Just because you disagree doesn't make the other person a bad peraon, please try to keep that in mind in future discussions as this insulting and name calling is getting way off topic. <3 you both, but please...
Thank you :)

Telemarketers are fine. Just have your phone near your computer so you don't have to rush downstairs or something ;-) And as soon as you find out that they're telemarketers say something like

"sorry, not interested. Don't call back please. Have a nice day, Bye"

and they'll go and ring someone else, probably eventually finding someone that's interested.

Peace
