@ Daemon - No, no it's not interesting at all.

Maybe right now; but nobody starts work at the top. You will get there soon, everyone has to put in their time. Just keep working at it.

I work currently as a Network Technician for a township in Southern Ontario. It's a good job, and my boss and I are great friends.

@polyphony - You can also get jobs at grocery stores. My parents pressured me to get a job over the summer when I was 16 and I ended up being a cashier for a while.

But now I work part time for a data center, and part time programming for one of my professors while I go to school.

I currently do video editing.
Nothing fancy, just boring wedding videos, celebrations and very small scale events.
Other guys film it, I edit it and turn raw footage into a dvd by cutting out all the boring bits, adding graphics (images, text, motion graphics, animations, effects), music etc.
I use Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Encore and the rest of the master collection, along with some plugins from red giant.

This work can get monotonous and boring so quickly.
It pays the bills so gotta do it, but I am planing to start moving into computer related jobs in near future.

Therefore a crucial step to becoming a better programmer is learning how to avoid getting stuck, to recognize when you’re stuck, and to get unstuck." -Jeff Wofford

I'm currently finding ways to earn only, trying some methods (affiliate marketing, SEO, etc)

I have a small techblog which I just started, I got suspended by my webhost (I sp@m3d emails using my own hosting) silly me I know :).

BTW I live in the Philippines where technology is just starting to bloom. Hell, we can't even automate our voting system.

Since people are mentioning freelance gigs, I'll add to mine.

I build robotics and other side projects for people. Mostly mothers who want their kid to get an "A" on their science projects. They pay me to build something cool, and their kid wins the fair, well, I win the science fair but meh.

Also fixing computers for friends and family, getting them music and movies, quick programs to help on automating tasks, malware removal, PC maintenance/optimization, etc...

I don't always get money for it, but if I don't get paid with cash, I'll get weed out of it.
