The piano is to low. It's just bad, I stopped playing the song after 14 seconds, it's that bad.
Try to either take it up some octaves, or take in some third(interval, learn music theory) notes.

That's just harsh I think its decent, not precisely the kind of dubstep I listen to but its okay.

TBH I don't like the piano intro. I think the same melody with some other instrument would sound better.

From 0:54 it sounds kinda messy, there are some sounds (sounds like something fell) that don't fit. I understand what you were trying to achieve there, and I agree it would sound very good, but for now it needs some adjustments. I guess that's what you meant by "the mastering is off a bit".

As a final note, I like the song. With some more work, it could easily become something I would hear. Good job.

Definitely new instrument on the melody, fix that damn piano, and clean up the wobble just a tiny bit on the parts where it rolls really fast, not sure how to describe that through typing... like, it goes "wuuuub wubwubwubwub sd;lkhgaope wuuuub wubwubwubwub", the "sd;lkhgaope" part needs cleaning up. I really like the beat, and I love how clear the sound is.

Yes, that's what I meant with the "sound of something falling". Didn't knew how to describe it either.

Not something I'd listen to every day, but something I'd listen to when I don't care about the beat - like coding. The piano intro is just ugly... and other piano parts don't really fit... Aside from that it's kinda good

I really like this actually, that vocal is great and sounds good in the song. The drop isn't all that great but all in all very well done!

The transitions are awesome, they just blend in so naturally. At 3:30, the song just is awesome, it's that tense most of Joels' songs has. This song is awesome.


This is a good song that shows you the thirds, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyFQx6U-geQ. In here, the first tenor is making the thirds, while the first bass is the melody. See, thirds really enhances a song. The first bass is the one saying "Högt över jorden" at 0:26 is the first tenor, and at 1:50 you hear the first bass the best, he is the one "in the middle", making it sound good.

Not only the thirds, but also the fifths.
In music, these are called Triads, or three note chords. And is not as straightforward as going for the exact third, you may need to lower it (aka flat) or raise it (aka sharp), depending on the base chord type (major/minor/etc) and other factors.

For example, if your base melody is:
C Am F G
and the vocals would follow the same note structure (I know, it would be a very lame song, but for the sake of example), you would have:

|   Am  |     A      |      C       |
|   F   |     F      |      A       |
|   G   |     G      |      B       |The third of "A" is actually "C#", but since the chord behind the vocals is a minor chord, we have to lower the secondary voice to "C". Otherwise it would just sound dissonant.

Obviously, I'm simplifying things a lot. It is a bit harder when the voice has it's own line, and you need to look for every third of every note and know if you have to lower/raise it or not. Shit, you can even not follow the root melody at all and come up with some different melody that fits harmonically. Midlake is a good example of that, they mix a variety of vocals, each of which is doing it's own melody but they all fit together.
