Is it just me or does something feel wrong when people join to a forum and feel shocked when they are suppose to post something there.
I guess I have always been wrong when I thought that was kind of the idea.

I can certainly understand the principle of why some of your are complaining about the requirement, and I don't think anyone here is disagreeing with the notion of a right to free information and knowledge. The thing is, that information is still free, and quite readily available after an extremely minor contribution back to the community that's providing that free information.

Then why not do this? You want to provide content? That's great! Do it. That would be the ideal outcome of the restrictions.

I know this is just reiteration of what's already been said in the thread, but so are the complaints. lol

Honestly, I'm new, and I feel that the board restrictions are perfectly fine, I hope to contribute something useful myself eventually.

Why whine, why not just post, Be new, this is the internet everything anyone says or does is wrong no matter how right you are.

I would like to say I'm fairly happy with it, new people are coming out that have had an account for a while and I hope more come out of there shells too. The ebooks still exist and they are still free with one of the most reliable hosts on the net. If you're hear to read, you shouldn't have any trouble contributing. You've been here for a year reading books, post some interesting things you've learned or are in the process of learning. We'd love to hear it!

For the record I think this is a brilliant idea. I was j/k with my above comment. I am thinking that if I asked nice enough I would be given access back, but that is not the point or a concern. I am all for this.

And This idea sucks. Hacking is about open source and free flow of information. And yes I can start writing posts about basic Nmap scanning or SQL Injection or other stuff that the internet is fond of, for gaining more post points, but I believe it will be better to leave your private forum for your private knowledge! Its better to start giving my money to the authors that wrote these books.

So you would rather spend 10-20k on books than contribute a measly 20-50 posts? I am trying to hard to be nice to everyone but your logic is sadly illogical.

Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.

Exactly what I wanted to say, the books are still free, nothing has changed there.

Hi guys. im new around here and was looking all over the board for threads containing the hack tools, software, scripts ect, because i have lots to contribute in that section. So I started reading through the difirent thread sections and luckily stumbled accross this post. To be honest, I was quite confussed. But after reading through most of the replies to this post, I realise that the admins make some pretty valid points. Although i cant access any of the threads and stuff that im looking for yet, I know that its a means of seperating the wheat from the chaff. Which, imo makes this board pretty unique.

Well, time to get more serious as a contributor and stop leeching I suppose :P Though I need to start thinking about the answer to 'what am I really doing here?". Soul searching time!

Sounds Fair. Been awhile i visited the community. But nice changes.

Is it just me or does something feel wrong when people join to a forum and feel shocked when they are suppose to post something there.
I guess I have always been wrong when I thought that was kind of the idea.

Fairly hard for alot of people to make the first move. Always the question "what do i contribute". Altho giving them a barrier now will drag people out atleast.

Staff Note: Do not double post, please use the Edit or Modify button(s). Thank you

Evilzone has a nice ebook library, I used to browse the section quite frequently. But the point is even if I download the latest ebooks, I never find the time to read. I've hundreds of ebooks (mainly technical) that I want to finish but never really get there.

Reading books is one thing, but in my opinion the best way to test that your knowledge on a particular topic is to create something practical and share it with the community. The feedback whether it's positive / negative criticism, new ideas, suggestions, etc. is something that  a book will never teach you.

I actually like the step taken by Evilzone in limiting the ebook section based on post count but I think more steps should be taken to actually make this community evolve.

For example, there could be a dedicated group on irc consisting of people who want to learn some specific topic. I've always wanted to learn more about shellcoding and some of the more advanced exploit development techniques and I think as a group it's easier to learn than on your own watching videos or reading books. Also there's a sense of competition, something that is good in my opinion and accelerates the drive to learn.

I'm still new to this community, so I hardly know what goes on outside this forum. Feel free to enlighten me if such stuff do exist.

Thanks

I think this is a great idea. Its  the light at the end of the tunnel. Without a real motive, most people would use this site as a source for quick info for a hobby, while a true hacker is here to learn and contribute. 'Cause truly, 20 posts is nothing if this is something you want and a community you want to be a part of. I am new to this community and so far, very excited to know that this site, not only very informative and truly focuses on hacking, has secretes and has a bunch of stones to flip over and bunch of secret passage ways, persay, the deeper you dive in. Cant wait to uncover more secrets. AND MARK MY WORD, I WILL FIND OUT WHAT 34C IS.
